'Article 6: Each child has right to live and the government should provide a place where they can grow up in a safe environment'
Anastazia lives in Tanzania, where almost everyone around her, including her parents, has a dark skin color. Anastazia is the only white person; she has Albinism, which means that her skin, hair and eyes have no pigment.
In many countries in Africa, it is believed that poeple with Albinism have magical power and that their body parts can make someone rich and successful. With the bones of Albinos they make amulets, which are then sold for a lot of money. This is why people come after children like Anastazia and could even kill them!
When Anastazia was six-years-old, she had the flee from her village. It was too dangerous for her to stay with her parents, just like the hundereds of other Albino children who live in a center without their parents or family. Behind the fences of the center it is all safe but the living conditions are not the best. Every single day, they eat beans with rice and Anastazia has never heard of anything like spaghetti or sushi. She sleeps with many other children in one room where it is warm and stuffy. Anastazia hasn’t seen her parents for a long time but there is good news! She heard that they might come visit her very soon!
